The Russian aircraft project that can perform ultra-short takeoffs and landings, Partizan, is advancing. The documentation necessary for a demonstrator to be presented in 2023 is being completed, according to the TASS agency. The information came from the Foundation for Advanced Studies (FPI), client of the project.
The project has been developed since 2019 by the Siberian Aviation Research Institute and is titled Partizan, in Russian acronym.
It is a small aircraft, with a maximum take-off weight of 3.38 tons, which can be used to transport cargo to remote locations, as it can land and take off from runways up to 50 meters.
The aircraft will use a series of electric motors, it is capable of carrying a ton of payload over a distance of up to 1,000 km and its operation could even take place in restricted terrain, such as forests or other obstacles around it.
The takeoff could happen in such tight spaces thanks to the design of the aircraft, which would send airflow from the engines to the wings, pushing it upwards. These characteristics would be combined with high fuel efficiency.
