Avianca performed a special livery on an Airbus A320 honoring diversity, equity and inclusion. The aircraft registration N724AV received a tail paint in the colors of pride.
“Bringing geographies closer together and eliminating barriers is one of the commitments we have as an airline. For almost a week and with a team of almost 20 people at the Maintenance Center, we worked on the project of this aircraft: a flag that today is part of our principles as a company and that ratifies our commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, aware that our differences make us great,” said Albert Pérez, Avianca's vice president of Engineering and Maintenance.
The week-long painting process took place at Avianca's Aeronautical Maintenance Center (MRO) in Rionegro. The plane made its first flight on July 3, with flights from Bogotá to Villavicencio, Neiva and Armenia.
In addition, the airline claims that its staff also takes diversity and inclusion into account. People from more than 32 countries are present, with 186 women occupying management positions, with 99 pilots and 211 from the maintenance team. 10 people with disabilities are in customer service positions.
“Diversity goes beyond a celebration, it is in our DNA to bring people together and serve as a window to open our eyes to the world. Therefore, everyone is welcome, regardless of age, belief, race, culture, gender identity or sexual orientation”, says Renato Covelo, director of People and Talents.
