According to Anac (National Civil Aviation Agency), the average price of airline tickets was R$580.41. However, the average price increased by 21.52% compared to 2019. In 2021, 366.41 was paid for the same ticket.
Fuel prices have a very large share of an airline's spending, around 36%. This year prices keep rising. Aviation kerosene (QAV) rose by almost 97%, compared to the average price from January to April 2019.
There is currently no downward trend. Therefore, airlines are discussing with the government about alternatives for the coming months.
As if that weren't enough, the Brazilian Association of Airlines (Abear) predicts a new increase in tickets within a few days, since a new adjustment in the price of the QAV took place last week.
In a note, Petrobras said that the fuel sales values ""at the refinery seek balance with international values.
The president of Abear, Eduardo Sanovicz, says that any change in fuel pricing has a direct impact on the amount paid by passengers.
“In Brazil, kerosene corresponds, on average, to 40% of the price of a ticket, while the world average is 20 to 24%,” he said.
According to Abear, in the first half of this year, the QAV has already risen 70.6%, without considering taxes. Last year, the QAV rose by almost twice the barrel of oil, which, for him, shows a very serious and very clear problem.
