British airline Flybe, under new management, recently returned to flying, after having gone bankrupt at the beginning of the pandemic. However, many of their flights are being cut. CEO Dave Pflieger said flight frequencies will be reduced for the period between July 28 and October 29. The company does not have enough resources to handle all scheduled flights.

"We were planning to increase flights to existing cities and new destinations such as Aberdeen, Inverness, Newcastle and Southampton. However, the two aircraft leasing companies that were contracted to supply our additional planes have told us that they will not be able to meet their commitments until later. summer," reads Pflieger's statement.

Aircraft leasing companies will not be able to meet deadlines, causing Flybe to be unable to meet its entire schedule.

It is not uncommon for the news that many companies around Europe are canceling their flights. However, unlike Flybe, the other companies are canceling due to lack of staff. British Airways, for example, canceled 30,000 flights from its schedule between April and October.

Pflieger has apologized to his customers and remains optimistic as the airline still intends to increase its flights on its existing routes and new routes later this summer.

We will still introduce more flights this year after we receive our delayed aircraft,” he said.

Currently, Flybe's fleet consists of 4 De Havilland Dash 8-Q400s. Recently, an Embraer E175 and an ATR-72 were also leased, but they were not enough to service all the company's flights.
