All Nippon Airways (ANA) had a purchase order placed with Boeing for 30 units of the 737 MAX-8. Today, 11, this order was confirmed.

In addition, the airline confirmed that it had converted two of the 20 orders for the widebody 777-9 from passengers to freighters.

The purchase intent for the 737 MAX-8 had been signed in 2019, two months before the plane was grounded for safety reasons.

The purchase of the new generation of the triple seven had been announced in 2014. The objective is for the plane to enter service after fiscal year 2025.

ANA intends to expand its freighter fleet, following the global demand for cargo. The jet has 112 tonnes of payload capacity and both units are expected to be received from 2028.

Regarding the MAX, the airline will replace its current fleet of obsolete 39 737 NG units.

The MAX is expected to offer greater passenger comfort and lower operating costs for ANA, which also operates the Airbus A320neo and A321neo.
