Toyota is a company with tradition. Over the years, the Japanese company created and evolved its method called TPS (Toyota Production System), which was fundamental to managing its operations so that there was no waste. In fact, the car giant was one of the only companies that managed to get around the semiconductor crisis.

At the end of last month (June 30) Embraer announced that it had entered into a partnership with the Japanese company to implement the system and gain operational efficiency. The partnership plays a key role at a time when there are problems in supply chains around the world.

In the first phase of the work, a team of specialists from Toyota do Brasil will evaluate and suggest improvements at the Embraer plant in São José dos Campos (SP).

The partnership should work on the concepts of "just in time" and "jidoka", in all global operations of the Brazilian manufacturer. There will be an “automation with a human touch”, where there is automatic detection of faults in production and correction.

Embraer has already relied heavily on the principle of “kaizen”, a Japanese concept of continuous improvement through employee involvement.

The manufacturer spent 2021 focused on reducing the damage caused by the coronavirus pandemic and supply chain disruptions. The company has achieved a reduction in production time of around 17%, which is part of a target of 40% by the end of 2023. Working together will be an exchange of knowledge.
