Airbus has announced that it intends to deliver around 700 aircraft this year, down from the 720 previously announced.
Guillaume Faury, the company's chief executive, says that Airbus' results have been good, but the downward revision reflects the difficult times the company is experiencing on a day-to-day basis.
"We're trying to go as fast as possible," the executive said.
Manufacturers have struggled with the supply chain, which is no different with Airbus. One of the big problems is the delay in the supply of engines. Airbus confirmed that it had 26 aircraft units without engines and stored.
Airbus is not the only company with supply chain problems.
"The fact that we have gliders (airplanes without engines) shows that Airbus' production rate is capable of more. But we need the parts, we need the equipment, we need the engines in particular. It's the supply chain that is the bottleneck." said Faury.
The manufacturer delivered 297 planes in the first half of the year, so there will be more than 400 to deliver in the second half of the year if the goal is met.
Faury is talking to vendors like Pratt
