In February 2022, Etihad signed a letter of intent for 7 units of the freighter version of the Airbus A350. Yesterday, 3, the carrier converted the intention into a firm order. The airline considers the A350 and A350F fundamental for the company's development, as they are extremely efficient planes compared to previous generations.

In addition, the air cargo market continues to grow, and Etihad is capitalizing on the market trend. Etihad Cargo is undergoing significant fleet growth and renewal. The cargo division operates 5 Boeing 777-200 freighters with an average age of just 7.1 years, which means the fleet will more than double.

Boeing has historically dominated the cargo market, with the A350F being the likely rival to the 777XF. However, Airbus can take a more prominent place in this market, as the European manufacturer already has 31 orders for the freighter model for six different customers.

The date for the delivery of the freighters has not yet been set.
