Within the scope of the SustentAr program, initiated by ANAC (National Civil Aviation Agency) this year, Azul was the airline awarded for its good environmental practices and its initiatives aimed at sustainability.

The award was announced yesterday (16). The program aims to encourage actions aimed at good environmental practices.

“Our company is 19% more efficient today than in 2016. Currently, we transport more customers and emit less carbon [...] With this, Azul is proud to say that it is a company that operates with 70% of its seats with new generation aircraft and low emission levels”, says John Rodgerson, president of Azul.

The company achieved the highest score among Brazilian airlines (scheduled air transport companies, according to RBAC 121). The score was achieved based on five criteria: Organizational management and environmental education; energy transition; operational efficiency; atmospheric emissions and natural resources.

“Azul doesn’t just want to be the best company in the world, but also the best for the world,” said the company.

The Company is committed to being net zero by 2045. Today, Azul is part of the carbon offset and reduction scheme for international aviation.
