On August 16th, ANAC (National Civil Aviation Agency) published a decision on August 10th in the Federal Official Gazette in which it released Azul from complying with some requirements set out in the Brazilian Civil Aviation Regulation (RBAC) no. 121 for the Airbus A350 to be included in the fleet in the Operating Specifications (EO).
In this way, ANAC made it possible for Azul to add the A350 to its fleet without the partial demonstration of emergency evacuation required by paragraph 121.291(b)(1) and without carrying out the partial demonstration of ditching provided for in paragraphs 121.291(d) and (and).
According to ANAC, the decision takes into account the fact that Azul has already demonstrated the type in a similar aircraft, in this case, the A330-200. However, such demonstrations may be required in the future.
The widebody will be the largest-capacity aircraft operated by Azul, and may expand Azul's offer of seats on international flights. The move comes after several years of back and forth with the model.
The original order for Azul's A350 was placed in 2014. The idea was to receive the models still in 2017. However, the company has focused on receiving another Airbus widebody, the A330-900, which is expected to replace the older A330-200s. old.
