Virgin Australia has announced an order for four more Boeing 737 MAX 8 jets. This order, when added to the previous one, which has not yet been delivered, will bring the 737 MAX 8 fleet up to eight units.

“Despite the challenges facing our industry, demand for travel remains strong and we are responding with a long-term focus, increasing the efficiency and sustainability of our fleet with four additional Boeing MAX 8s joining our fleet starting in 2023.” noted Jayne Hrdlicka, CEO of Virgin Australia Group.

The first delivery is scheduled for February 2023. The jets will be scheduled for medium-range and high-density domestic flights, as well as short international flights that have restrictions due to slot availability limitations.

In addition, the company has orders for another 25 units of the Boeing 737 MAX 10, the largest in the family that has not yet been certified.
