Operation Guardians of the Biome aims to stop and monitor environmental crimes that take place in Roraima, in the Yanomami Indigenous Land. The operation has the participation of 12 important federal institutions, including ANAC (National Civil Aviation Agency). In August, 36 aircraft were seized.
In total, in the ANAC operation, 58 aircraft were inspected. Of these, 25 aircraft were suspended or interdicted. There was also the suspension of 6 riders and a mechanic. In addition, locations where aircraft maintenance took place without proper certification were identified.
In addition, about 24 tons of ores (cassiterite, gold and mercury) were seized. 15,600 liters of fuel were also seized or destroyed. 119 munitions were embargoed and 25 people were arrested in total.
Last year, 89 aircraft were seized, one being a rotary wing.
According to the gov.br website, the 2022 indicators show a weakening of environmental crimes in the indigenous land. Meanwhile, monitoring remains active year-round.
