Yesterday (15) the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) and the Brazilian Navy (MB) signed an agreement for the acquisition of 27 units of the Airbus H-125 Esquilo helicopter.

The new Airbus aircraft are to be produced in Brazil by Helibras and are part of the program coordinated by the Ministry of Defense, TH-X, which is based on a contractual amendment to the HX-BR program of Airbus' H225M Caracal helicopters, the more expensive and complex. That is, the FAB and MB will give up one unit each of the H225, which will be exchanged for the H125 Esquilo.

The new aircraft will be used for rotary-wing aviation pilot school training and for naval air operations. These helicopters will replace FAB's H-50 Esquilo and MB's Bell 206 Jet Ranger III.

Returning on 05/23, it was announced that FAB would receive 12 units and MB would receive the other 15.

With standardized aircraft for training, the task can be made easier by all three services. Perhaps, in the future, there will be an integrated training unit for both the Brazilian Navy, the Brazilian Air Force and the Brazilian Army.
