The European manufacturer released the results of deliveries and new orders for commercial aircraft in the month of September. In all, 55 aircraft were delivered in the month, totaling 437 aircraft delivered to 66 customers in the year.
The aircraft were delivered to several airlines and aircraft leasing companies.
In addition, the month ended with 13 new orders, 11 for the A320 family and two for the A330-900.
If compared to the previous month, there was a 40% increase in deliveries. However, the 55 deliveries are still below the average expected to complete the 700 deliveries in the year, which Airbus had committed to.
With a target of 700 deliveries, Airbus still has a lot of work to do until the end of the year, as 263 deliveries still need to be made in the period that encompasses October, November and December, which gives an average of around 87 commercial aircraft per month.
The manufacturer has more than 7000 aircraft in the backlog. This quite large number is a source of joy for the company but, on the other hand, it is also a reason for a headache. That's because Airbus needs to speed up its monthly aircraft production to meet demand. In addition, supply chain issues are still present.
The company has plans to be able to produce 75 A320 family aircraft by 2025. But in the meantime, about 50 jets can be produced per month. Will Airbus be able to deliver its 700 planes this year?
