Airbus Haps Connectivity Business has signed a letter of intent with Space Compass Corporation (Space Compass) to use Zephyr to contribute to connectivity and Earth observation.

Airbus Zephyr is a solar-powered unmanned aircraft made for long flights. The aircraft offers mobile connectivity services, mobility platforms, Earth observation and other government activities.

Mobile connectivity would be offered in the sense that the aircraft could function as a low-latency 4G/5G satellite, complementing terrestrial networks.

According to Airbus Haps CEO Samer Halawi, the platform is attracting interest from various mobile network operators as well as other service providers globally. The CEO also highlights that the platform will offer unprecedented savings.
