After the destruction of the Antonov An-225, the world's largest commercial aircraft, earlier this year, experts estimate that at least €500 million will be needed to rebuild it.
The plane was destroyed at the Hostomel base at the very beginning of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. Images show that the plane was heavily damaged, with damage to the wing, engines and with the cockpit almost completely separated from the rest of the fuselage, among other damages. Based on the assessment, experts said that the reconstruction will cost around 500 million euros (2.58 billion reais).
Despite this, the CEO of Antonov stated that it is still not possible to predict the real cost. The exact amount will be published when available.
According to information from the German newspaper Bild, the plane is being built on a secret base and will be based on the incomplete structure of the second Antonov An-225 that was never completed. In addition, parts of the destroyed unit will also be used.
Leipzig Airport (LEJ) in Germany will receive the Myria wreckage, which will be exposed to the public until December.
