Embraer is looking for a new commercial partner for the construction of its new turboprop aircraft. It is no longer news that the company has participated in conversations to define which partner will be, and these conversations are progressing well with India, according to Embraer.
“We are in discussions with potential partners in India and globally for a selection of partner options for the next generation turboprop aircraft. These discussions are ongoing and are progressing very well, Embraer said.”
Also according to Embraer, the aircraft is still in an early stage of development, and a decision to proceed with the project has not yet been taken.
In addition, India could become a hub for building large passenger planes with the opening of the Airbus-Tata factory to manufacture the C-295 at Vandora on 30 October.
Embraer has forecasts that the world will need around 11,000 planes with around 150 seats in the next 20 years. In this forecast, 57% of the new aircraft will be destined to replace the old ones, while the remaining 43% will be destined to grow existing markets.
In this way, Embraer could take a more important role, as the search for smaller aircraft with greater efficiency, connectivity and flexibility is becoming increasingly necessary. This is where the new turboprop comes into play.
The turboprop will be different from the ones we know, according to CEO Arjan Meijer. It's more like an E2 Jet with another, more advanced type of turboprop propulsion. In addition, the cabin experience is much quieter because of the engines located further back in the fuselage.
Embraer expects the plane to enter service in 2028.
