The Arab airline Emirates has already announced that no new planes are expected to join the airline's fleet next year. The company has 200 aircraft waiting to be delivered, including 115 Boeing 777X, 30 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner and 50 Airbus A350-900.
In part, this is due to delays in certification of the Boeing 777X and deliveries of the 787 Dreamliner, which are still at a slow pace after the shutdown. The company's CEO, Tim Clark, said the company prioritizes the 777X and would waive its order for the Boeing 787 Dreamliner if it meant having the Boeing 777X first.
“As far as the 787 is concerned, we're taking a good look at whether they (still) fit into the show or not at this point. It's much more important to us that they [Boeing] focus on releasing their 777X," Tim Clark said.
Emirates air cargo service Emirates Sky Cargo announced a firm order for 5 Boeing 777F units this week, reinforcing the company's confidence in the model.
