The shipping company MSC has been eyeing the air cargo market for some time now. Demand is high, and MSC has already tried to strike a deal with Lufthansa to buy ITA Airways, but to no avail. In this regard, MSC has entered into an agreement with Atlas Air for the lease of 4 Boeing 777F aircraft.
The lease agreement is of the ACMI type (with aircraft, crew, maintenance and insurance). The 777-200F will provide air freight capability and serve as a complementary service to MSC's container shipping solutions.
The first MSC Air Cargo aircraft is now ready in MSC colors. The plane with registration N707GT has not yet had the routes it will fulfill disclosed, but it is expected that they will be between Europe, Asia and Africa.
The company should start its air cargo operations in early 2023. The plane has already received its livery, however it has not yet been delivered. Even so, images are already circulating the net.
