The IATA (International Air Transport Association) revealed that India will see sustained growth in its air sector of around 5.8% per year. However, Indian companies will remain struggling for a few more months.

The information was revealed by Andrew Matters, responsible for analysis at IATA. This expectation of growth for the Indian market is in line with analyzes by other companies, such as Boeing, which said that the Indian market will grow at around 7% per year until 2040.

The group envisions the Indian market as part of the top three in the world within the next 10 years.

“We at IATA expect Indian aviation to handle an additional 430 million passenger air trips to and from India in 2040 compared to 2019,” he said during IATA Aviation Energy, an event that took place yesterday, 15, in New Delhi. ”

The Indian Ministry of Civil Aviation official said that the Indian aviation market is expanding faster than any other major economy in the world. He highlighted that by December, 6 airports will have been inaugurated in a period of 12 months.

In addition, the Indian government is seeking to make the use of SAF (Sustainable Aviation Fuel) mandatory by Indian airlines, as the country is among the countries with the most potential to produce SAF in the world.

“We are committed to reducing emissions caused by fossil fuels.”

IATA Senior Vice President for Environment and Sustainability Sebastian Mikosz proposes incentives for SAF to be produced and used in the local market.
