Just over three months after releasing the use of masks, the requirement will be applied again from Friday (25). The decision to return to mandatory took place on Tuesday night (22).
Until the mandatory takes effect, masks remain as a recommended individual protection measure.
Brazil made this decision based on the significant increase in cases seen in recent weeks. In this way, masks will be mandatory inside airport terminals, inside aircraft, airport establishments and means of transport (such as buses).
The government, however, did not prohibit the on-board service on planes, so passengers can only remove their masks when eating or drinking.
Children under the age of three, or people with disabilities that prevent them from using the protection, are excluded from the requirement.
The use of an isolated Face Shield is prohibited, that is, without a protective mask underneath. Acrylic, plastic, non-professional, single-ply masks with expiration valves, cloth bandanas or scarves are also prohibited from being used as a substitute for masks.
