A Piper PA-31-350 Navajo Chieftain reported engine failure and crashed in Medellin, Colombia, in a residential area on monday (21). All eight occupants, including six passengers and two crew, died. Seven houses were destroyed and six other buildings were damaged.

The plane took off from Olaya Herrera Airport (MDE) and had engine failure during the climb and, unfortunately, was unable to return to the airport of origin. Witnesses reported hearing a loud crash before the crash.

According to the Bureau of Aircraft Accident Archives (BAAA), the plane was operated by Aeropaca SAS, a charter company based at Medellin Airport.

The origin of the problems that led to the accident are still being investigated by the responsible body, which asks to avoid speculation with unofficial preliminary versions that could hinder the progress of the investigations.
