A Singapore Airlines Airbus A380 registration 9V-SVQ was filmed in a moment when it “spilled fuel” during flight SQ-317 from London Heathrow, England, to Singapore.
The video was taken on November 24, with the airline reporting, on the same day, that what had happened was a failure in the aircraft's pressurization system.
The plane, in flight for about 25 minutes, had just reached FL330 (Flight level 330, 33,000 feet altitude, about 10,000 meters) in Belgian airspace, when a descent with a speed of 2300 feet per minute to FL100 (10,000 feet).
This behavior is a strong indication of a pressurization problem, although the passengers said that they did not feel depressurization at any time.
The plane was diverted to Frankfurt/Main airport, in Germany, and the jettisoning system was used to dump the fuel, consequently leaving the plane with less weight, to adjust the weight of the plane to the maximum landing limit.
The plane landed safely in Frankfurt after 1 hour and 40 minutes of flight time.
