Following its plan for the fleet in the coming years, Croatia Airlines and Airbus signed, yesterday (28), an agreement for the acquisition of six units of the manufacturer's regional aircraft, the A220-300.
In addition to the acquisition of 6 aircraft, Croatia Airlines plans to lease 9 more aircraft of the model, increasing its commitment to 15 aircraft. The company intends to reach the year 2026 with a fleet composed only of A220s.
“Our fleet renewal is a continuation of our collaboration with Airbus. More specifically, we have just signed an addendum to our pre-existing contract, whereby all old and existing aircraft of Croatia Airlines will be replaced by new ones by 2026. By flying new and superior aircraft, whose capacity will be in the market segment from 100 to 150 seats, we will be able to meet the specific needs of our passengers in a much better way,” said Jasmin Bajic, CEO of Croatia Airlines.
The Airbus A320, A319 and Bombardier Dash 8 planes are to be gradually replaced by the new regional planes. In addition, 4 Airbus A320neo that had not yet been delivered to the company will have their orders converted to the A220.
The A220 is a state-of-the-art aircraft destined for the regional market with 100 to 150 seats with advanced aerodynamics and Pratt engines.
