The ultra-long-range version of the Airbus A320neo family successfully performed a long-duration flight on Tuesday the 13th. The flight across Europe lasted 13 hours and fifteen minutes, proving the ultra-long-range capabilities of the A321XLR.

The plane took off from Tolouse, southern France towards Ireland, then towards Norway via Germany, Czech Republic, Austria and Italy. Then he returned to Airbus headquarters. Surprisingly, during the flight, the plane took a course in order to write “XLR” over the coast of France.

Airbus has invested heavily in this plane, which will be great for airlines as it takes a share of the market that has no competition. The Airplane benefits from being a more modern design than the Boeing 737 and being able to accommodate extra fuel tanks without being harmed.

In the end, all the features added together give the plane a range of 8,700 km, something that only widebody planes can currently offer.

The first jet, which has yet to be certified, is expected to be delivered in 2024. Currently, there are more than 500 orders from more than 20 customers for the aircraft. In Brazil, so far, Latam is the only one that will add the model to its fleet.

There will be 17 aircraft of the model for Latam, 5 of which will be delivered through leasing between 2025 and 2026. In Latin America, Sky Airlines and JetSmart also ordered the plane.
