Transport Canada Civil Aviation (TCAA), the body responsible for civil aviation in Canada, issued type certification for the Embraer E190-E2 and E195-E2 in the country. Type certification takes place 4 and a half years after the first E2 enters service.

The Aircraft was already certified by ANAC (Brazil), FAA (United States) and EASA (Europe) and is operating for several companies in these regions.

Porter Airlines, a company from Canada, will receive its first E195-E2 in the coming days. The jet will be the first of its kind to be operated by an airline in North America. The start of commercial operations should take place in February 2023.

According to Embraer, so far 20 E190-E2 and 201 E195-E2 have been ordered, while 17 and 38 have already been delivered, respectively. A significant chunk of E195-E2 orders came from Porter Airlines.

The company already has a firm order for 50 units of the jet, with options for a further 50. 30 firm orders have been placed in 2021, with a further 20 being placed in 2022.

Currently, the Porter Airlines fleet has 29 De Havilland Dash 8 turboprops.
