The collaboration between Abear (Associação Brasileira das Empresas Aéreas) and Decea (Department of Airspace Control), along with other participants, carried out work on optimizing routes in airspace.

The work has been carried out since 2012, the year Abear was founded. Just last year, 145 optional routes could be created. Routes are more direct, saving fuel and reducing CO2 emissions.

In 2022, the work generated fuel savings of 35.8 million liters of QAV (aviation kerosene). Consequently, there was a reduction of 92.7 million kilograms of CO2 in the atmosphere.

To measure the fuel economy generated, the Boeing 737-800 has a capacity of 26,000 liters of fuel. The saved volume could supply 1,375 aircraft of the model.

The most direct and economical routes guarantee lower operating costs for airlines. Fuel is responsible for about 40% of the total expenses of companies.
