The prefecture of the city of Pirassununga, in the interior of SP, announces that it has decided to close the activities of the Aeroclube da Cidade. Thus, those using that area will have to remove their belongings within 60 days.
The idea is to use the site for other purposes and build another airport in a rural area with ANAC approval. However, the city hall has not yet submitted any documentation dealing with the new airport.
The flying club has completed 80 years and is home to the Air Force Academy (AFA), where its pilots are trained at the beginning of their careers. The Aeroclube is qualified by ANAC as a Civil Aviation Instruction Center. Thus, airport users and its management do not find the decision to close reasonable. They say the place is historic and important for Brazilian aviation.
In this way, the Municipality has several obligations, rights and duties with ANAC and the Federal Government and opposes the closure of the airport.
A note published by the aero club questions what would be the benefit of this for the city, since before closing an airport the other should already be working.
