Yesterday (14), Boeing received a large order for up to 49 787 Dreamliner airplanes. The customer is Saudi Arabia Airlines.
The order is mixed for the 787-9 and 787-10 models, with 39 firm orders and 10 more options.
With the confirmation that Riyadh Air's fleet will consist of a 787-9 and firm orders for 39 787-9s (with 33 more options), the orders of the two Arab companies together reach 121 aircraft, representing the largest commercial order in value of Boeing's history. The value of the order could reach US$ 37 billion.
"SAUDIA continues its expansion efforts in all aspects of the airline, whether in the introduction of new destinations or in the increase of the aircraft fleet", said Ibrahim Al-Omar, Director General of the SAUDIA Group.
This application contributes to a nascent tourism market and international traffic. Thus, the country's goal is to transport 330 million people and attract 100 million visitors annually by 2030. The Saudi government has earmarked $1 trillion over the next decade to transform the kingdom into a mass-market tourist destination.
