Due to a problem detected in January, Boeing stopped deliveries of the 767 freighter and the KC-46 Pegasus aerial refueling plane, which is based on the 767-200.

The problem was with the paint primer used by a supplier on the wing fuel tank of some KC-46A Pegasus and 767-300F.

According to Stan Deal, head of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, it was necessary to remove and repaint the central fuel tank of the affected aircraft. According to him, Boeing is still assessing how many aircraft were affected.

The first aircraft delivered was a 767-300F on April 4, registration number N282FE. Two more planes are scheduled for delivery soon.

Details were not provided on upcoming deliveries, however the manufacturer still has 27 Freighter 767s to be delivered to FedEx, another 27 to UPS and 58 KC-46 Pegasus to the US Air Force.

The issue with the tanks was not considered to be a safety issue, however there were concerns that the fuel tank would become clogged and cause restriction of flow to the aircraft's engines.
