The Lufthansa Airbus A380 fleet has been reactivated after three years in storage. One of the planes is already flying at this moment on a flight from Munich to Boston.
Lufthansa will use the A380 on schedule from June 1st to October 27th on daily flights this season. Furthermore, the A380 is expected to replace the older and smaller A340-600.
In this way, Lufthansa will gain capacity, which is very crucial right now, in this moment of growing demand for air travel.
The A380 is also expected to operate daily flights from Munich to Los Angeles from 5 October to 30 March next year. This route is currently operated by the A350-900. The same thing will happen with the route from Munich to Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport.
But the airline is yet to add more widebody routes yet to be defined, likely replacing the older A340. Either way, the A380 doesn't appear to be as close to the end of its useful life as previously thought.
