Airbus is rushing Chinese airlines to place orders for new aircraft. This is because many airlines around the world have placed large firm orders for Airbus, so the factories will be busy for quite some time. Adding to that are supply chain issues.

“Slot availability (delivery time) is increasing rapidly, we are trying to speed up discussions with our Chinese customers,” said George Xu, head of Airbus in China, during an interview with Bloomberg at the European manufacturer’s Chinese plant.

Airbus says that now is the time for Chinese companies to place their orders in a way that avoids deliveries taking many years and that their fleets always remain up to date.

Airbus has a factory in Tianjin, China, but it cannot meet all the new demand in the country.

Airbus has only a few delivery slots left for the A320neo family before 2030, while Boeing's 737 Max is sold out in 2028. In addition to these narrowbodies, the lead time for widebodies is also increasing.
