Low cost Ryanair broke its record again by carrying 17.4 million passengers in June. The absurdly large number is 9.4% higher than the same period last year and about 38% higher than the same period in 2019, before the pandemic!
The operator managed to have, on average, 95% of the seats occupied. This load factor is quite high for any airline in the world.
This number is in line with the airline's growth target, which is 300 million passengers in fiscal 2024.
The new record is all the more impressive because it came amid strikes in France that grounded more than 900 flights.
The numbers could have been even higher if French air traffic controllers had not carried out a series of shutdowns because of pension reform, which included raising the retirement age by two years.
