Embraer and Eve Air Mobility announced this morning (20), the date of Santos Dumont's 150th birthday, that production of the eVTOL will take place in Taubaté, in the interior of São Paulo.
The chosen location is an existing Embraer factory, which will be expanded to receive the aircraft's production line. The first units should be ready in 2026. The expansion of the unit is still subject to approval by the authorities.
The chosen location will bring a strategic logistical advantage, according to Embraer, since there is easy access to highways and a railway line. In addition, the location is close to Embraer's headquarters in São José dos Campos, facilitating the process as a whole and increasing agility.
The City Hall of Taubaté stated, in a note, that this will bring benefits to the city "such as the generation of qualified jobs, investments in research and development, in addition to greater visibility in the national and international technological scenario". The city hall also stated that it will work with Embraer to ensure that all stages of the project are completed.
“This decision is in line with our strategic plan for growth based on innovation and sustainability,” said Francisco Gomes Neto, President and CEO of Embraer, in a note.
eVTOL already has an order book of 2,800 units, which represents more than US$ 8 billion in sales to 28 customers, including airlines, leasing companies, helicopter operators and shared flight platforms.
