Australian airline Qantas will no longer acquire airline Alliance Aviation. The decision not to do the deal was made by the two companies after the Australian antitrust agency took a stance against it.

However, Qantas stated that it will continue its strong partnership, as well as holding a 20% stake in the Alliance.

The alliance supplies Embraer E190 jets to QantasLink. The agreement provides that almost 30 units of the model will be supplied in the future.

Alliance stands out for being the company with the largest fleet of Fokker jets in the world. The joint use of Fokker 100 aircraft was one of the main objectives of the deal. However, the companies recognized that the deal would not be possible.

The company operates “Fly-in Fly-out” charter flights for companies such as mining companies.

Qantas also has a large fleet of Fokker aircraft, divided into Fokker 100 and Fokker 70, totaling 60 aircraft.

The purchase of Alliance was announced in May 2022 and the value was around US$443 million.
