The Italian government has reached a solution for the case of Alitalia, a company whose viability has been the subject of controversy for a long time.
In its place comes ALITALIA TAI (Trasporto Aereo Italiano), a state-owned company with about 100 aircraft and a new management structure. The company will absorb the assets of the old company, while the company will keep the liabilities.
With an investment of more than 3 billion Euros and its fleet of 100 aircraft, the Italian government hopes that now, the company will fly in brigadier sky.
The optimistic plans foresee a profitable company, capable of cooperating with the country's economic recovery and competing in a market on equal terms with the European giants in the sector.
Among the company's staff are CEO Francesco Caio with a career from banks and telecommunications companies but also with Fabio Lazzerini, former Emirates regional manager.
Italian government officials have been optimistic in their statements to the press, trusting that Alitalia's problematic model will be overcome with the advent of the new company.
