No less than 86 percent of voters agreed to join and continue the company's restructuring plan, see further details in the subtitle below.
The South African government is expected to provide an estimated $ 600 million to capitalize the company.
Unfortunately, Brazil is on the list of countries that are no longer served by the company, which seems quite natural when one thinks that its fleet from now on will have only 6 Airbus A320 models.
The company valued a standard of excellence like few others and flew to Brazil for about 50 years.
Best wishes for success in the restructuring and return soon to Brazil, SAA, we will miss you ...
LIQUID COMPANY WIDE BODIES OF YOUR FLEET (published on 12 / Jul / 2020)
The South African Airways company, once a company that prized for a standard of excellence like few others, reveals a little more of the devastation that has befallen itself.
The elegant wide bodies that boasted the company's magnificent livery, one of the most beautiful in the industry, will be completely extinct. There will simply be no more Airbus A-340 or A-350 of any subtype in the airline's fleet.
Well, at least six units of the Airbus A-320 and A-319 models will continue to operate. It is with this workhorse that the company will start, almost from scratch, the resumption of its former greatness.
As we know, the A-320 is an extremely versatile, robust and "workhorse" plane, possibly one of the best options for those who want to start from scratch, as the SAA intends now.
The regional Airlink continues to operate and its feeder flights are expected to help the larger partner recover.
It is not very difficult to suspect that the workers were harshly affected by the measures, as usual.
Only 100 jobs remained, out of a previous total of more than 5000 workers.
The company, however, is not alone in its recovery initiative. The South African government must contribute substantial amounts to the company's upturn.
Of the intended sums, approximately US $ 580 million will come from the total liquidation of its subsidiary SA Express. To this must be added the amount coming from the state, the main one should be a sum of 950 million dollars for the company to face its debt and services during the recovery phase.
