CRAIC CR929 may delay
China-Russia trade disagreement affects project

CRAIC, an emerging Chinese manufacturer of large commercial jets, is currently leading the progress of a major project, the C929, a two-aisle wide body.
China is a prodigal country in commercial and technical relations with several other states and one of the countries that most signs transfer and technology agreements, that is, it enters its huge market, and candidates to sell anything there have to accept share the technology.
However, these initiatives are not without problems. In the case of the C929, the partnership is with Russa UAC, a company with great know-how in the construction of large aircraft.
However, COMAC wants exclusivity in the right to sell the model in the Chinese market, that is, in the large sales vein available to the new jet.
It is clear that UAC, a vital partner in the partnership, also wants revenues from sales in that country, which is causing a difficult impasse to get around.
The damage to the plane's schedule is great. Due to the difficulties the consortium of manufacturers is already talking about postponing the commercial debut of the model from 2027 to 2029.
Russian sources, however, show optimism and seem to trust that the difficulties will be overcome.
The aircraft is expected to feature composite material wings, Russian engines (but probably with options) and fully Russian avionics.
A challenging scenario, since the major suppliers of engines and avionics are of "western" origin. But Russia and China have big plans and investment capacity.
It is perhaps not good to doubt the great potential for technology and science in these countries. It's a good bet. Time will tell you what your real possibilities are.
