Contagions on board
Proximity to patients can be dangerous, says UOL

According to the UOL portal, a study carried out in the United States reveals that the proximity to sick passengers of Covid-19 can affect those other passengers who are seated immediately adjacent to them, as well as in the row immediately before or after.
Those outside these areas are in little or no danger.
The movement of people on board, however, is also a factor in increasing the risks. For example, the movement of infected people through the corridors, to access the lavatories or when boarding and disembarking, can increase the risk of other people.
Taking a seat at the window or at least a seat in the middle row (of a narrow body aircraft) can contribute to mitigate these risks.
The findings are from two North American universities, Atlanta Emory University and the Georgia Institute of Technology. The study universe comprised almost 1600 people, including passengers and crew, always on medium-length flights and in narrow body aircraft.
