The CEO of Iraqi ATA Airlines announced that the company will acquire three new aircraft from Embraer, doubling its fleet of Brazilian aircraft, which currently comprises three ERJ-145s. The models of the new planes have not yet been released.
“By adding these long-haul aircraft to the existing fleet, ATA Airlines intends to expand its travel routes,” says the CEO.
The first Embraer in the ATA fleet was received in 2017, and the company's initial plan was to acquire nine more, totaling ten Brazilian aircraft in the fleet by 2018. However, US government sanctions prevented the company from carrying out its plan. Iran, which currently has very old planes, is looking to renew its fleet.
