Lufthansa's CEO had already talked about bringing the Airbus A380 back into service. The giant's return is gradual, so on the 28th, the company resumed its flights from Munich to Bangkok with the plane.
Lufthansa's A380 is configured to carry 509 passengers. The route was previously served by the A350-900, which offers 293 seats.
Gaining passenger capacity is important at this time, as demand for air travel in Asia is returning to what it was in 2019, the last year of normality before the pandemic.
The company will reactivate four more A380s by 2025, which, added to the four that are already operating, are all the aircraft of this type in the company's fleet.
Regular passenger service with the A380 is returning after three years. The announcement of the plane's return was made in the middle of last year.
