Ryanair, the launch customer for the Boeing 737 MAX 8 200, expects to receive 57 new planes by April next year. However, Boeing may postpone this date to July or August of next year.
In its third-quarter financial results released on Oct. 25, 2023, Boeing said it now expects to deliver 375 to 400 737 aircraft, rather than the previous forecast of 400 to 450 narrowbody planes, decreasing by up to 75 jets.
Ryanair CEO Michael O’Leary was unhappy with the information, as the delay could occur right in the most profitable period for the low-cost airline, which is the European summer.
"We are working with Boeing to try to accelerate these deliveries. But the big issue for us is that we should receive 57 aircraft by the end of April. We hope to receive them by the end of June, but if they slip into July or August, it will be too late, so we won't fly them [the planes]," O'Leary told The Telegraph in his latest statement.
"Boeing needs to come together and start delivering these aircraft on time. I had a lot of sympathy for Boeing. The Max was grounded for two years, but that was two years ago. It's time for them to come together and start delivering these aircraft." , O'Leary told The Telegraph.
"We are in regular dialogue with Boeing and our primary objective is to ensure delivery of all 57 contracted B737 aircraft before the end of May 2024," O'Leary said in September 2023.
According to the portal ch-aviation.com, the airline expects to receive 84 737 MAX 8,200.
The Boeing 737 MAX8 200 is a high-density version of the 737 MAX 8, capable of carrying up to 197 passengers, instead of 189 in the common version.
