Boeing announced that it has completed the conversion of the 150th 737-800NG into a freighter at STAECO (Taikoo Shandong Aircraft Engineering Company Limited), in China.
The model has proven to be a good alternative. The aircraft can carry up to 23.9 tons of cargo and fly up to 2,025 nautical miles (3,750 km).
The model is already operated by more than 40 airlines, including Gol. The aircraft was launched in 2016 at the request of AerCap. Today the model has already accumulated more than 300 thousand hours flown.
Boeing carries out the conversion in Canada, Costa Rica, the United Kingdom and China, but is expanding the units that must perform the service.
Boeing released a video showing the aircraft's conversion process, with phases that include removing the aircraft's interior finish, installing floor reinforcement, a front cargo door and pallet and container retention devices, among others.
Currently, Boeing planes dominate the air cargo market.
