The plane with registration PS-LBB marks LATAM's first Airbus A321neo. The aircraft arrived on the 30th (Saturday) and landed at Fortaleza airport, Ceará.
The narrowbody left the Airbus factory in Hamburg supplied with 49% SAF (Sustainable Aviation Fuel). The aircraft is expected to begin regular passenger service in October and is configured to carry up to 224 passengers. In the high-density configuration, which was not chosen by the company, the aircraft can carry up to 244 passengers.
By the end of 2023, the airline will have 10 more aircraft of the model to receive, totaling 31 aircraft of the type. In addition, the company made an agreement to acquire another 13 A321neo. By 2030, the group plans to have more than 110 aircraft of the A320neo, A321neo and A321XLR models.
“Our fleet renewal and modernization strategy is aligned with our commitment to sustainability and represents yet another step forward in our goal of becoming a carbon neutral group by 2050. We will continue working to complement our current fleet with state-of-the-art aircraft and further expand more connectivity for the LATAM group without neglecting the environment”, says Ramiro Alfonsín, CFO of LATAM Airlines Group.
This aircraft has a range of 4000 nautical miles (7000 km) and has 15% less fuel consumption compared to previous models.
