With plans to modernize its fleet, Aerolíneas Argentinas announced the purchase of 12 Embraer E195-E2 aircraft, which will serve to replace the company's previous generation E190s.

“With this agreement we were able to modernize our fleet, increase productivity and reduce the cost per seat. Having a partner like Embraer that supports us and accompanies us on this path of growth is a very important boost”, explained Pablo Ceriani, president of Aerolíneas Argentinas.

This plane has a larger seating capacity. There are 136 compared to 90 in the current fleet. Furthermore, planes consume 13.8% less fuel and emit less CO2.

Demand for air travel in the domestic market is growing, so more seats on the plane can be a big differentiator. It is estimated that, with lower operating costs and more seats, the company will be able to grow its revenue by more than 10%

The new aircraft are expected to arrive between 2024 and 2026.

It is worth remembering that the company's current fleet of Embraer E190 aircraft is relatively young, with an average age of 12.2 years. Before being owned by Aerolíneas, the planes belonged to the subsidiary Austral.

The airline had already been discussing the purchase of Embraer E195-E2s for months. There is also the possibility of purchasing Airbus A330 widebody aircraft.
