During Monday (25), the Air France-KLM Group announced plans to increase its fleet through the expansion of a purchase agreement with Airbus. The group will acquire 50 Airbus A350s, in addition to having options for a further 40 aircraft.
The new agreement includes the A350-900 and A350-1000, but does not specify quantities or which companies will receive the new aircraft. This order will be added to the existing order of 41 A350-900 jets, of which 22 have already been delivered.
Deliveries should take place between 2026 and 2030. The new aircraft should replace the old A330 and Boeing 777.
After deliveries, the Group will be the largest A350 operator in the world, with a fleet of 141 jets. By 2028, the share of new generation aircraft in the Air France-KLM fleet will reach 64%.
A few days ago, the Group established a partnership with Airbus to carry out specialized maintenance services for widebodies.
Furthermore, the Group will be one of the first operators of the new generation A350F freighter, with 8 units already ordered for its cargo operations.
