At Dubai Air Show, Ethiopian Airlines orders 67 planes from Boeing

Ethiopian airline Ethiopian Airlines has announced an order for up to 67 Boeing aircraft. The order arrives on the second day of the Dubai Airshow.
The company placed a firm order for 20 737 MAX, with options for 21 more. In addition, 11 firm orders were placed for the 787 Dreamliner, with options for 15 more. The chosen model of the 787 is the -9, while the 737 is o -8.
The company operates 19 units of the 787-8 and 10 of the 787-9, making it the largest operator of Dreamliners in Africa. As for the MAX, there are already 13 units of the -8 in the fleet.
“We are pleased to announce that Ethiopian Airlines has reached an agreement with Boeing to place a firm order for 31 ultra-modern aircraft, with an opportunity for an additional 36 jets,” said Mesfin Tasew, Ethiopian Airlines Group CEO. “This order will allow us to modernize and grow our fleet in support of Ethiopian Airlines’ growth plan and our Vision 2035 Strategy.”
The company mainly operates Boeing, but also has the De Havilland Canada DHC-8-400 and Airbus A350-900 in its fleet.
