The Qantas Group forecasts an increase in demand in the coming months. The Australian airline will meet this increase in demand with Brazilian aircraft. More specifically, the Embraer E190.

Yesterday, June 17, the company announced expansion of its leasing agreement with Alliance Airlines for the Embraer E190 jet, thus helping to respond to the growth in demand.

The agreement provides for an increase from 14 to 18 aircraft, three of which are already in operation, and another five will come into operation in October. The planes will use QantasLink's colors and help meet demand, which is expected to be 107% of what it was before the pandemic, ending fiscal year 2022 with growth of at least 7%.

Embraer jets have 94 seats, making them suitable for connecting regional centers with Australia's smaller capitals. The company decided to scale them for some routes, in order to free up the Boeing 737-800 for others, thus allowing it to add new routes and improve others.

“Expanding our long-standing relationship with Alliance gives us access to a different type of aircraft without spending any capital. The E190 is perfect for connecting capitals and regional centers. Its size, reach and economy have already allowed us to launch seven new routes that would not have worked with our existing fleet.” said the CEO of Qantas Group.
