According to the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC), domestic aviation mobilized 3.6 million passengers in May, a decrease of 49% compared to the same month in 2019. In May 2021, the demand for flights decreased 43.4%, while the offer decreased by 43.7% compared to the same period in 2019.

As for the international market, the numbers also show a reduction, considering the restrictions and blockades that aviation has faced as a result of the pandemic. Also in May, demand was 88% lower than in 2019, with a drop of 66.2%.

Azul was the company that led the domestic aviation market in May, with a 36.6% share of flights in that period, followed by Latam, with 32.2%, and by Gol, with 30.7%.

Aircraft registered 82.2% of average occupancy, an increase of 0.6% compared to 2019.

It is important to remember that in 2019 the pandemic had not yet arrived and there were no other exceptional factors impacting aviation at that time.
