Eve, the Embraer subsidiary responsible for developing eVTOL, appears to be investing heavily in the project. The company's newest partnership is with Flapper, an on-demand executive aviation company. The partnership was announced in a statement this Thursday, 22/7, and is focused on the development of urban air mobility in Latin America, with special attention to the cities of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro and Belo Horizonte, in Brazil, Chile, Mexico and Colombia.
“Six of the ten largest urban helicopter fleets are in Latin America and the region currently has the densest infrastructure in the world for this type of aircraft. (...) We look forward to expanding our existing pay-per-seat network and implementing a smooth transition to more agile and efficient types of services,” said Flapper CEO Paul Malicki.
The partnership will provide up to 25,000 flight hours per year in 25 Eve electric vehicles for the Flapper platform to the contract's target locations. Thus, the main objective is to develop the Urban Air Mobility (UAM) market.
“Flapper's regional reach, combined with its disruptive on-demand technology, makes the company an ideal partner for expanding our operations in Latin America. This, together with the operation of Eve's zero-emission air vehicle, will enable the democratization of the UAM market for new partners and key markets such as Brazil, Mexico, Colombia and Chile,” said Andre Stein, President and CEO of Eve.
